True to our motto, “concrete reinforcement for generations”, we make sure that future generations will still find a planet worth living on and that buildings constructed with our products will provide a safe home for many generations to come.
Responsible use of resources and the use of the best possible, environmentally friendly technologies have been an integral part of AVI’s philosophy and actions for decades. At the same time, these premises form the foundation for AVI’s claim to long-lasting quality in its reinforcement products. The sophisticated AVI reinforcement products contribute, among other things, to saving concrete volume and thus CO2 emissions.
For AVI, sustainability means combining economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. We design the conditions for a sustainable subsistence strategy in such a way that change processes can be implemented quickly at any time. We promote awareness among our employees at all levels in order to jointly shape and improve environmental protection, occupational safety, and quality in all areas of the company.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS
Every year, we implement various projects relating to environmental protection and sustainability. In the past few months, we were able to achieve a lot and realise several projects at our sites. In addition to the further greening of the factory premises, the modernisation of our heating control system and the installation of several charging stations for electric vehicles, we are particularly proud of the new 810 kWp photovoltaic system on the roof of one of our factory buildings.
A lot is also happening at our facility in Vienna. For example, due to a building restoration we were able to improve the thermal insulation. In addition, we are saving 5.91 tonnes of CO2 per year by replacing the old lamps in the factory with LED systems.
We are still a long way from reaching our goal and want to continuously improve ourselves in order to move towards a resource- and climate-friendly future.

ÖKOlogisches PROjekt Für Integrierte UmweltTechnik
Ecological project for integrated environmental technology

Since 2002, AVI has been one of the companies that have been awarded the ÖKOPROFIT seal of approval every year. The aim is to conserve natural resources, reduce waste and emissions, but also to strengthen the company economically. Among other things, AVI strives to keep its ecological footprint as small as possible through the use of solar energy, transport routes that are as short as possible, domestic production that also creates regional jobs, and the recycling of waste materials, such as scrap metal.
ÖKOPROFIT was developed in 1991 by the Environmental Office of the City of Graz in cooperation with Graz University of Technology. This is a cooperation between the local companies, the regional authority, and external consultants. The environmental program ÖKOPROFIT is considered a model for sustainable economic development of the regions.
Since July 2023, ÖKOPROFIT has become only the second national environmental management system in Europe to achieve EU recognition and partial equivalence with EMAS III.
