True to our motto, “concrete reinforcement for generations”, we make sure that future generations will still find a planet worth living on and that buildings constructed with our products will provide a safe home for many generations to come.
Responsible use of resources and the use of the best possible, environmentally friendly technologies have been an integral part of AVI’s philosophy and actions for decades. At the same time, these premises form the foundation for AVI’s claim to long-lasting quality in its reinforcement products. The sophisticated AVI reinforcement products contribute, among other things, to saving concrete volume and thus CO2 emissions.
For AVI, sustainability means combining economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. We design the conditions for a sustainable subsistence strategy in such a way that change processes can be implemented quickly at any time. We promote awareness among our employees at all levels in order to jointly shape and improve environmental protection, occupational safety, and quality in all areas of the company.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS
Every year, we implement various projects relating to environmental protection and sustainability. In the past few months, we have once again achieved important progress and realized several forward-looking measures at our sites:
- Photovoltaics: New solar panels on the roofs of our factory buildings contribute to sustainable energy generation.
- Heating and lighting optimization: Modernized heating control systems and LED lighting, some with radar sensors and timers, significantly reduce energy consumption.
- E-mobility: New electric and mild-hybrid vehicles for our field staff, along with additional charging stations, promote environmentally friendly mobility.
- Green factory grounds & biodiversity: Additional green areas, beehives, and 56 bird nesting boxes provide habitats for numerous animals.
- Resource-efficient material transport: A large portion of our wire materials is now transported by train to Graz, reducing transport-related emissions.
A lot is also happening at our Vienna site. Building renovations have improved thermal insulation. In addition, replacing the old lamps in the factory with LED systems saves 5.91 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
We are proud of these achievements, but we also know that there is still much to do. We continue to work tirelessly towards a resource- and climate-friendly future.

Ecological project for integrated environmental technology

Since 2002, AVI has been one of the companies that have been awarded the ÖKOPROFIT seal of approval every year. The aim is to conserve natural resources, reduce waste and emissions, but also to strengthen the company economically. Among other things, AVI strives to keep its ecological footprint as small as possible through the use of solar energy, transport routes that are as short as possible, domestic production that also creates regional jobs, and the recycling of waste materials, such as scrap metal.
What is ÖKOPROFIT?
ÖKOPROFIT was developed in 1991 by the Environmental Office of the City of Graz in cooperation with Graz University of Technology. This is a cooperation between the local companies, the regional authority, and external consultants. The environmental program ÖKOPROFIT is considered a model for sustainable economic development of the regions.
EU recognition for ÖKOPROFIT
Since July 2023, ÖKOPROFIT has become only the second national environmental management system in Europe to achieve EU recognition and partial equivalence with EMAS III.
